Blog: Social networking sites

Below I will begin to compare four social media websites.

Facebook: Facebook is actually my main social media. I like to use Facebook as a messaging platform because the messenger aspect is very convenient. You can make group chats and reach out to different people in a very easy manner. Facebook's main application is also very interesting. I currently buy and sell shoes and sell them for profits and one of the platforms I use to sell is facebook. They have different groups and marketplaces that can be used to sell your items. You would think that the group pages would be run very poorly with no regulations but it is the opposite. Group owners try to maintain integrity and remove anyone who seems suspicious. I also use Facebook as a means to relieve my boredom. There are always different videos to watch on Facebook and I really like how the Facebook algorithm recognizes what you enjoy watching and gives you similar videos. Overall, Facebook is a great platform that has everything you need.

Twitter: I started using twitter a few years ago and I can tell that it is very different from Facebook. Though both applications have a posting feature where you can post whatever you want, people on twitter would post an astronomical amount. There are people that I am following that will post every 10 minutes where Facebook I would be surprised if people post more than once a day. The layout of twitter makes it very popular for posts rather than videos or instant messaging. I believe that a lot of apps have very similar features, but some of them are easier to use. Twitter is different when it comes to the different communities. In Facebook, I mentioned that there are different groups that do different things, but with Twitter you are not bounded by groups. For example I consider myself part of the sneaker community on Twitter but there are no groups for sneakers. I just follow people who share the same interest and sometimes comment and keep up on the latest news. Though I am not a part of a group, I am actively reposting and being a part of a community where people know each other and give each other information.

LinkedIn: LinkedIn is another social media platform that I use. It is comparable to Facebook and Twitter where you can make posts, but the main use for this platform is to sell yourself to companies and look for a job. Many people utilize LinkedIn as a way to show companies that they are a strong worker and will be a great asset to their firm. You can reach out to different professional and the entire platform is made so that people can apply to a vast amount of firms. Other platforms are used as a way for people to meet each other, but while LinkedIn can be used for that as well it should be used mostly for professional purposes.

Instagram: I recently started using instagram and my first impression was that it is definitely a great way to meet new people. First, you can see how your friend's are doing. People generally post a decent amount within a month and since posts are in the form of a photo or video, you are able to physically look at how someone is. Also, the layout of Instagram is virtually very different from other social media platforms. "A lot of words" does not really apply to instagram, because it is virtually a snapshot of a persons life through photos/videos. They have a similar messaging system to Facebook or LinkedIn, but there are also vast differences. You can directly reply to a story that someone posts and it leads straight to instant messaging. Instagram is great for if you want to see physically how someone is doing or what they are doing rather than seeing it through words.

Overall, these social media platforms are a great way to meet new people, talk about yourself, or help with your professional career. The uses are not limited to what I just mentioned but I believe that these platforms can evolve and be used differently.
